Overview

The Infrastructure Architect will be part of a team whose role is the design and modification of complex, multi-system environments. In this role, the architect will identify and analyze business requirements to integrate hardware, storage, operating systems, and connectivity solutions. The role also involves creating and maintaining standards and patterns development used within the infrastructure technology space. The architect will partner with other architects, developers, and production support teams to provide design guidelines, impart knowledge on technical trends and serve as a Subject Matter Expert on systems configuration and integration, capacity planning, performance analysis and optimization. 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for complete infrastructure design, systems analysis, data center operation, network & voice communication.
  • Acts as expert for infrastructure teams in the plan, design, and delivery of IT solutions.
  • Advises teams of IT technology standard requirements, methodology and processes.
  • Drives short & long term infrastructure architecture strategy for the overall IT project portfolio for key business segments.
  • Participates in proof of concepts to assist in defining technology direction and enabling business strategy.
  • Communicates and validates program/reference architecture with infrastructure team, project management team, and IT management team.
  • Conducts end-to-end technical plan design.
  • Provide leadership in BCP and DR planning and execution.
  • Assists in the development of long-term strategy for historical data retention and archival plan for storage needs.
  • Defines data retention, backup, and recovery methods and plans.
  • Develops enterprise standards to ensure compatibility and integration of multi-vendor platforms.
  • Design and develop infrastructure blueprints for the implementation of new solutions.
  • Responsible for impact analysis and design modifications to existing systems to support new solutions.
  • Develops specifications for interfaces from existing to new systems.
  • Maintain a common documentation library of standardized procedures and configurations.
  • Provide third level support for incidents and problems in designated areas of expertise.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other IT staff for configuration and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • 10+ years’ experience in a production IT environment managing enterprise IT infrastructure, hardware, hosting service and network areas.
  • Ability to write architectural design documents or review design documents provided by others.
  • Knowledge and understanding of industry trends and new technologies and ability to apply trends to architectural needs.
  • ITIL knowledge and certification.
  • Must have a thorough advanced knowledge of the Windows concepts, Domains, Active Directory and its concepts, and the interaction between hardware, operating systems, network, data center, and application software, Linux and Unix is a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of VMware or other virtual software.
  • Deep understanding of TCP, IP and other network protocols. Familiarity with DNS, DHCP and other network services.
  • Basic knowledge of array storage of an enterprise class SAN.
  • Knowledge of managing a data center in terms of systems monitoring, capacity planning and performance tuning.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Adept at technology research, forming fact based opinions supporting constructive debates.
  • Positive attitude and a team player skilled at building relationships.

PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) certifications in Windows 2008, 2012 or Windows 2016
  • Knowledge of Cisco network and technologies, CCNA(P) and CCIE
