Overview

Manages multiple project plans and customer requests providing business analytical tools and capabilities to meet the business goals and objectives of the company by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance, supervision and training to members of the BI Services team and the business customers. Promote continuous growth and development, as well as maintain a highly interactive team with a productive and positive atmosphere.
  • Assist with strategy and implementation of BI goals and objectives.
  • Support data warehouse design and integrity, and promote the adoption of BI tools and capabilities.
  • Develops and manages the budget for the BI tools, projects, and resources under his/her direction.
  • Consult with project sponsors and associates to define project specifications and scope.
  • Works closely with the business customers to create solutions significantly improving the quality and/or efficiency of their reporting and analytical needs.
  • Keep current with P&C insurance knowledge and industry technology, and utilize that knowledge with existing productivity tools, standards and procedures to contribute to the cost-effective operation of the department and company.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on vendor hardware and/or software products; write and/or direct the development of enterprise BI policies, procedures and standards.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL:

  • 5+ years related experience in enterprise BI Technology and deployment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business/IS or related field
  • A strong working knowledge of BI strategy and delivery, self-serve reporting and analytics, multidimensional and in-memory database architecture, and relational data modeling.
  • Strong understanding of business analytic frameworks.
  • Strong oral and written communication.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work in and build a team environment.
  • Ability to collaborate and build positive relationships. 

PREFERRED:

  • Master’s degree in related field
  • 5+ years experience in insurance – preferably Property and Casualty.
  • 3+ years in managerial or project management capacity.
  • Experience working with Apache Hadoop or NoSQL Databases.
  • Experience with Business Objects, Tableau or Power BI.
  • Professional designations or advanced degrees desirable (CPCU, FLMI, CLU, CIDM).
