    This career opportunity will either be based in the Appleton Office or office from home located near a major airport hub in the Midwest (Field Manager’s discretion) and will service all the states SECURA writes business in.



    • Inspect, prepare detailed damage estimates, negotiate, and settle large/complex property claims. Includes retaining and managing experts and vendors necessary to facilitate the handling of assigned claims.
    • Examine policy coverage forms and other records to determine insurance coverage.
    • Interview and correspond with policyholders, claimants, witnesses and police.
    • Establish and monitor reserves to adequately reflect the exposure.
    • Make appropriate reserve changes as each file develops.
    • Assist in agency management by providing feedback to Underwriting and conducting agency visits.
    • Participate in catastrophe team efforts (both inside and outside the regularly assigned territory), as well as the after-hours emergency claim response program.
    • Conduct training and act as a mentor to peers.
    • Focus on outstanding customer service toward all customers.
    • Continuous improvement of Large Loss program with other large loss representatives and supervisor.
    • Travel with overnight stays, as necessary.    





    • 8+ years of experience in property and property damage liability claim settlement.
    • Working knowledge of claims law and ability to conduct on line research (PLRB, Lexus Nexus) and build solid relationships with external resources.
    • Proficient use of Statement of Loss or similar tool/resource.
    • Understanding of insurance coverages for commercial, personal, and farm lines; ability to analyze complex coverages across multiple forms and policies.
    • Top-notch organizational and prioritization skills.
    • Ability to work flexible hours and travel; includes the ability and desire to spend significant time in the office conducting research, making phones calls, writing letters and corresponding with involved parties.
    • Understanding and ability to read contracts and understand their interplay with insurance policies.
    • Analyze, review, negotiate, and settle large, complex claims promptly with minimal supervision.
    • Experienced in working with Public Adjusters and Attorneys.
    • Excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills.
    • Superior written and verbal communication skills.


    • AIC, CPCU, SCLA, CIC, or ARM designation(s)
    • College degree or equivalent work experience.
    • Previous experience using Xactimate estimating
    • Bilingual
