  • Responsibilities

    • Develop solutions within the Commercial, Specialty, Agribusiness IT team, including but not limited to designing, developing, testing, and configuration work in the Dev Studio development tool
    • Deploy Dev Studio based solutions and code changes into Development, QA, and Production environments
    • Analyze, design, program, provide code reviews, test, and implement systems to fulfill business needs or problems, utilizing all phases of the system development life cycle
    • Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications
    • Perform assigned project tasks in a highly interactive team environment while maintaining a productive and positive atmosphere
    • Stay current with P&C insurance knowledge and industry technology, utilizing that knowledge with existing productivity tools, standards, and procedures to contribute to the cost-effective operation of the department and company
    • Participate in the 24x7 on-call support rotation

    Qualifications

    ESSENTIAL:

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems or associates degree with equivalent experience
    • Extensive experience with PL/SQL, developing Stored Procedures and Functions in PL/SQL, Packages in PL/SQL, Dynamic SQL, SQL
    • Experience with Oracle Database
    • Programming experience in an object-oriented language, preferably Java
    • Knowledge of XML
    • Working knowledge of database structure, design, and access methods
    • Demonstrated eagerness to learn
    • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work in a team environment
    • Ability to effectively work with and communicate with BA/QA, business partners, and third party vendors
    • Good organization/prioritization skills
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, yet maintain quality work

     

    PREFERRED:

    • Experience supporting third party applications in the insurance industry
    • Experience/Understanding of SQL performance profiling, monitoring, and tuning
    • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Environment
    • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite
